The 2022 NXT Halloween Havoc was the third annual Halloween Havoc professional wrestling event produced by WWE, and 15th Halloween Havoc event overall. It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. Unlike the previous two years, which aired as television specials, the 2022 Halloween Havoc aired as a livestreaming event. It took place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. SmackDown wrestler Shotzi returned to co-host the event with NXT wrestler Quincy Elliott; Shotzi previously hosted the 2020 event when she was still on NXT. In a cross-promotion with the Chucky TV series, Chucky returned to participate in the Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal segments.
Halloween Havoc is a professional wrestling event currently produced by WWE. As the name implies, it is a Halloween-themed show held in October. It was originally produced as an annual pay-per-view (PPV) by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from 1989 until 2000 as WWE purchased WCW in 2001. The 2000 event was the final Halloween Havoc until WWE revived the show as an annual event for their developmental brand NXT in 2020.[1] The 2020 and 2021 events were held as television specials of the NXT program, but for 2022, it was held as a livestreaming event, airing on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network in international markets.[2] The event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at NXT's home base, the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the 15th Halloween Havoc event overall and the third annual held for NXT.[3][4] After serving as the host of the 2020 event, it was announced that SmackDown wrestler Shotzi would return to NXT to host the 2022 Halloween Havoc. NXT wrestler Quincy Elliott earned the right to co-host the event with Shotzi after defeating Xyon Quinn in a match on the October 18 episode of NXT.[5][6]

The event took place on October 22, 2022 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the third Halloween Havoc event produced by WWE and the fifteenth overall. The event was broadcast on Peacock in the United States and on the WWE Network internationally.
Halloween Havoc was originally an annual pay-per-view (PPV) promoted by World Championship Wrestling (WCW), with the inaugural Halloween Havoc taking place on October 28, 1989. The event is Halloween themed, taking place in October. WCW held Halloween Havoc annually between 1989 and 2000 before WCW was purchased by WWE in 2001. The Halloween Havoc event remained inactive until 2020, when WWE revived the event as a television special for NXT. The 2020 and 2021 editions of Halloween Havoc were both television specials. On September 20, 2022, WWE announced that the 2022 edition of Halloween Havoc would take place on October 22 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. However, rather than being a television special, the event would be a livestreaming event that aired on Peacock and WWE Network.
After returning to NXT on June 7, 2022, Apollo Crews was targeted by Grayson Waller, who accused Crews of trying to take his spot. On the August 30 episode of NXT, Waller defeated Crews after jabbing Crews in the eye. Crews, who had seen a vision of Waller with bloodshot eyes, ambushed Waller on the October 4 episode of NXT. The following week, Waller was defeated by Ilja Dragunov after he was distracted by the wheel spinning by itself. It was subsequently announced that Crews would face Waller at Halloween Havoc in a Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal Match.
On the October 4, 2022 episode of NXT, Alba Fyre ambushed Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne of Toxic Attraction in the NXT parking lot before kidnapping their stablemate, NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose. The following week, Fyre announced that after taking Rose on a "joyride", she had received a championship opportunity at Halloween Havoc. Fyre defeated Jayne later that night, however, following the match, Fyre was put through the announce table by Jayne, Dolin, and Sonya Deville. Later, it was made official that Fyre would challenge Rose at Halloween Havoc.
At Worlds Collide, Diamond Mine member Damon Kemp, feeling he was not being taken seriously, prevented his stablemates, The Creed Brothers (Brutus Creed and Julius Creed), from retaining the NXT Tag Team Championship after hitting Julius with a chair. On the September 13, 2022 episode of NXT, The Creed Brothers faced new NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) in a Steel Cage Match. However, The Creed Brothers were defeated after Kemp handcuffed Julius to the cage. On the September 27 episode of NXT, Kemp faced Brutus but the match would end in a disqualification loss for Kemp after he attacked Brutus with a chair. The following week, Julius and Kemp agreed to face off in an Ambulance Match at Halloween Havoc with the stipulation that if Julius lost, Brutus would have to leave NXT.
At the Great American Bash, Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez won the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship. However, their partnership would not last after Jade turned on Perez. Jade and Perez faced off at Heat Wave, which saw Jade emerge victorious after Perez decided against hitting her former partner with a kendo stick. With another bout between Jade and Perez scheduled for Halloween Havoc, on the October 4, 2022 episode of NXT, Jade and Perez appeared on Grayson Waller's talk show, "The Grayson Waller Effect." Waller announced that their Halloween Havoc encounter would be a Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal Match. Waller spun the wheel, revealing that Jade and Perez would have a Weapons Wild Match.
On the September 13, 2022 episode of NXT, Wes Lee was scheduled to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT North American Championship. However, Hayes and Trick Williams attacked Lee backstage. Consequently, Lee was unable to face Hayes. While Hayes and Williams boasted later in the night, they were interrupted by Solo Sikoa. Sikoa faced Hayes, winning the North American Championship. The following week, Sikoa was ordered to vacate the title by Shawn Michaels due to Sikoa having won the championship in a match he was not sanctioned to compete in. Michaels then announced that Hayes and four other wrestlers would compete in a Ladder Match at NXT Halloween Havoc to determine a new champion. Later that night, Oro Mensah defeated Grayson Waller to qualify for the Ladder Match. On the September 27 episode of NXT, Wes Lee defeated Tony D'Angelo to qualify. Von Wagner became the fourth man to qualify for the match after defeating Andre Chase on the October 4 episode of NXT. Nathan Frazer qualified as the fifth and final participant after defeating Axiom in the final match of their Best of Three Series on the October 11 episode of NXT.
At Heat Wave, JD McDonagh failed to win the NXT Championship from Bron Breakker. On the September 20, 2022 episode of NXT, McDonagh defeated Tyler Bate to become the #1 Contender for the NXT Championship, returning to the title picture. Following the match, while Breakker stared down McDonagh, Ilja Dragunov, who had defeated McDonagh in a Loser Leaves Match in NXT UK, returned from injury, interrupting the two men. As a result, a Triple Threat Match was instead scheduled between Breakker, McDonagh, and Dragunov for NXT Halloween Havoc.
NXT has revived quite a few WCW PPVs, but Halloween Havoc might well be the biggest. NXT's version of the show will be even bigger this year as it has been moved from a themed edition of its weekly show and been given premium live event status. 2022's Halloween Havoc will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, rather than a week later to bring it closer to Halloween. The show will start at 8 pm EST, probably with a kickoff show 30 to 60 minutes before, and fans in the US will be able to watch live on Peacock. Everyone else will be able to watch along on the WWE Network. 59ce067264
